Barbara Schubert

Barbara Schubert serves as Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of Chicago, where she has taught since 1981. She directs the Performance Program and conducts the University Symphony Orchestra, while also leading the DuPage Symphony and Park Ridge Fine Arts Symphony Orchestra. Her career spans over four decades in academic and professional orchestral settings.

Specializing in conducting and orchestral performance, Schubert's expertise encompasses contemporary repertoire through her work with the Contemporary Chamber Players and traditional symphonic literature. Her professional focus emphasizes bridging academic training with professional orchestral standards through ensemble direction and performance education.

As Performance Program Director, Schubert oversees comprehensive music performance initiatives across university and community orchestras.
