Dr. Barbara Schone is a Teaching Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy. She serves as Faculty Director of the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program, teaching core courses in Microeconomics and Quantitative Methods alongside health policy electives.
An applied microeconomist, her research examines family decision-making dynamics, particularly regarding caregiving for disabled elderly parents. Additional research streams investigate employment-based health insurance markets and the economics of obesity. Her work employs game theory models to analyze family resource allocation.
Dr. Schone holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Virginia. Her career includes service as a senior economist at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, where she contributed to the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey.
