About
Barbara Rossi is an Associate Professor of Engineering Science and Tutorial Fellow at New College, University of Oxford. She holds a MEng, MSc, and PhD from ULiege (2003) and has expertise in sustainable metal structures, corrosion resistance, and structural behavior of materials like stainless steel and aluminum. Her research focuses on enhancing sustainability and resilience in construction, with applications in bridges, windmills, and nuclear waste facilities. She leads the Sustainable Metal Structures Research Group, utilizing advanced computational and experimental methods. Key contributions include design guidelines for lateral-torsional buckling and corrosion prediction models. Awards include the Carbon Champion (2022) and Bev Waugh Medal (2023). She also co-founded Oxford Sustainability, advising on low-carbon construction practices. Prior roles include Associate Professor at KU Leuven, Belgium, where she led research on metallic structures.
