About
Dr Barbara Procacci is a researcher in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York. Her work focuses on developing NMR spectroscopy as a time-resolved technique to study fast organometallic reactions, particularly photoinduced bond activation (B–H, Si–H, C–F) involving Rh and Ru complexes. She investigates mechanistic pathways and selectivity in these systems.
Her research interests include photochemical reactions of transition metal hydrides, ultrafast vibrational spectroscopy of metalloenzymes like hydrogenases, and ligand-to-metal charge transfer processes in photocatalytic systems. She also explores applications of 2D-IR spectroscopy in biomolecular structure dynamics and bacterial spore sensing.
Her publications span topics such as catalytic precursors, metalloprotein environments, and spectroscopic methods. Collaborations with institutions like York's Chemistry Department and international teams highlight her interdisciplinary approach to physical chemistry and bioinorganic systems.
