Barbara Nowak

Professor Barbara Nowak is an Honorary Professor in the School of Science at RMIT University. Her research focuses on Fisheries Sciences, Microbiology, and Zoology, with an emphasis on aquaculture challenges, fish health, and environmental impacts. She is actively engaged in collaborative studies on parasitology, stress responses in fish, and disease management. • Stress physiology and antibiotic effects on fish microbiota

Recent work highlights her contributions to understanding gill health in recirculating systems, medicinal herbs for fish health, and zinc toxicity in sand flathead. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges microbiology, immunology, and environmental science.
