Dr Barbara Mitra is a Principal Lecturer in Media & Film Studies at the University of Worcester's Institute of Arts and Humanities. She specializes in gender studies, social media's impact, body image, eating disorders, and children's media consumption. Her work bridges academic research and public engagement, including radio appearances and school outreach on gender, body image, and media literacy.
Her teaching focuses on gender, commercial aspects of social media, and technology in education. She has received numerous accolades, including the Student Led Teaching Award (2015) and multiple nominations for academic tutoring and lecturing excellence. She co-edited the Worcester Journal of Learning and Teaching (2012–2018) and produces academic films on various topics.
