Barbara Mayer

Barbara Mayer is a Lecturer in the Musicology Department at Mozarteum University Salzburg, combining academic research with artistic performance. She specializes in under-performed 19th-21st century compositions, Latin American music, and interdisciplinary projects. Her work bridges musical and cultural exchanges between Latin America and Europe.

Education:

• Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master of Arts (MA) in Piano, Composition, and Pedagogy
• Doctorate in Musicology (cum laude) on Hekel Tavares' piano concerto, published by Springer-Verlag (2022)

Research & Awards: Her doctoral research explored Brazilian composer Hekel Tavares. Awards include the first female composer prize from Augsburg (2021) and grants supporting her work in Brazil and Europe. Her compositions are distributed by Wiener Universaledition.
