Dr Barbara Hall is an Honorary Research Associate in the Division of Immunology, Immunity to Infection and Respiratory Medicine. She holds a Master's in Physical Education from Poland and a PhD in Exercise and Sport Science (distinction) from the UK. Her research focuses on metabolic responses to exercise in hypoxia among diabetes patients, nutritional status of adolescents, and the impact of physical activity on chronic disease management.
Current work involves investigating adult food allergy prevalence in the UK under Food Standards Agency funding. Future research aims explore diet/exercise effects on chronic diseases and the human microbiome.
Key expertise includes Type 1 diabetes metabolism, endurance training effects on asthma risk in athletes, and sarcoidosis quality-of-life studies. Collaborations span institutions globally, with a focus on interdisciplinary health sciences.
