Barbara Griffin is a Professor and Honorary Professor in the Department of Psychology at Macquarie University, affiliated with the School of Psychological Sciences. She holds endorsements as an organizational psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Previously at the University of Sydney and Western Sydney University, she became Program Director of Macquarie's Master of Organisational Psychology (2013–2017) and currently chairs the Postgraduate Coursework Committee.
Her research focuses on workplace adjustment processes, particularly the match between individuals and work environments across career stages. Key areas include health professional selection (e.g., medical admissions), extending older workers' participation, risk culture in finance, and drowning prevention via lifeguard performance research. She leads an ARC Linkage grant addressing lifeguard training and has contributed to projects like the Centre for Elite Performance Expertise and Training (CEPET).
Teaching includes courses such as Psychological Assessment and Evaluation (PSYO940) and Dissertation (PSYO945). Her work has resulted in 92+ publications and 30+ citations, with an h-index of 25. Awards include the 2016 Macquarie Vice Chancellor’s Award for Enhancing Learning, recognizing her program leadership.
