Dr. Barbara Clyne is Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Epidemiology at RCSI's School of Population Health. Her HRB-funded research develops methods for evidence synthesis supporting clinical guidelines, with particular focus on older adults, multimorbidity management, and appropriate prescribing. She co-leads national initiatives including the MIDAS trial on multimorbidity interventions and chairs the NCEC standards update committee.
Research examines healthcare delivery systems:
- Implementation science for guideline development
- Economic evaluation of prescribing interventions
- Medicines optimization in complex comorbidities
Publications demonstrate methodological innovation in systematic reviewing and meta-analysis, particularly in smoking cessation interventions and geriatric pharmacotherapy. Recent work evaluates interactive dashboards for prescribing optimization and rapid health technology assessment frameworks.
