Professor Balbir Barn serves as Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Middlesex University, specializing in model-driven software engineering and digital twin technologies. His research develops methodologies for socio-technical digital twins, conceptual modeling for interdisciplinary domains, and value-sensitive design approaches. With extensive industry experience at Texas Instruments and Sterling Software, Barn brings practical perspective to his research in enterprise architecture and adaptive systems.
Barn leads collaborations with TCS Research India to advance digital twin technology, applying it to public policy evaluation and organizational decision-making. His work has secured over £2.5 million in research funding and produced more than 130 peer-reviewed publications. Current projects examine model-driven engineering approaches for digital twins and their application to socio-technical systems.
