Bailey Dick is an Assistant Professor in the School of Media & Communication at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from Ohio University and a B.A. from Loyola University Chicago. Her research focuses on the intersection of personal narratives, systemic inequities, and media representation, with a particular emphasis on women’s experiences with trauma and the role of faith in first-person storytelling. Dick examines the legacy of Catholic journalist Dorothy Day and explores how media commodifies marginalized voices.
Her work bridges journalism history, gender studies, and religious media analysis, appearing in American Journalism, American Catholic Studies, and Columbia Journalism Review. She teaches courses in journalism writing and reporting, emphasizing ethical practices and narrative techniques. Before academia, Dick worked as a reporter for The Toledo Free Press and Chicago Sun-Times, with experience in political campaign media strategies.
