Azmy S. Ackleh

Azmy S. Ackleh serves as Dean of the Ray P. Authement College of Sciences and Professor of Mathematics at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from University of Tennessee, Knoxville (1993) and completed postdoctoral work at North Carolina State University.

Research specializes in mathematical biology with projects on amphibian dynamics, marine mammal impacts from environmental disasters, and evolutionary game theory. Current work develops computational models for tick-borne pathogen spread and predator-prey systems.

Honors include the 2019 Rollie Lamberson Research Award and 2016 Outstanding Mentor Award. Secured over $8M in grants from NSF, NIH, and Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative.

Advises doctoral candidates in mathematical biology and directs undergraduate research programs. Leads collaborations with USGS on ecological modeling projects.
