Azmeraw Amare is an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow and Associate Professor at the Adelaide Medical School, University of Adelaide. His research focuses on precision medicine, pharmacogenomics, and translational medicine using genetic and bioinformatic approaches. He leads the Genetic Epidemiology Research Group investigating mental health disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and healthy ageing traits through multi-omics approaches.
Dr. Amare has received numerous awards including the Young Tall Poppy Award for science communication and recognition as one of Australia's top 40 Rising Stars in Health Sciences. His publication record includes high-impact papers in Nature, JAMA Psychiatry, and Molecular Psychiatry.
