Aylan Couchie

Aylan Couchie is an interdisciplinary artist and writer affiliated with OCAD University as an Instructor in the Faculty of Art. She holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art, Media and Design from OCADU and is currently pursuing a PhD in Cultural Studies at Queen’s University. Her work critically engages with colonial histories, Indigenous erasure, and issues of representation through gallery, public, and written mediums.

Research Focus: Explores intersections of colonial/First Nations histories, public art as sites of reconciliation, and critiques of cultural appropriation. Her work emphasizes Indigenous perspectives in redefining narratives of place and identity.

Professional Involvement: Former Chair of Native Women in the Arts. Engaged with community-based projects in her home community of Nipissing First Nation.
