Ayhan Kaya

Ayhan Kaya is Professor at Istanbul Bilgi University's European Institute and Center for Migration Research, specializing in migration, populism, and identity politics. His research analyzes right-wing populism in Europe, diaspora engagement, and EU-Turkey relations, with publications examining civilizational identity construction and migrant labeling processes.

Recent work includes studies on Syrian refugees in Turkey, Islamophobia, and the de-Europeanization of migration policies. He directs projects on highly skilled migration and has assessed vulnerability among refugee populations in Istanbul. His books explore transnational identities and the legacy of social movements like #Occupygezi.
