About
Dr. Ayesha Siddika is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Centre for Infrastructure Engineering and Safety within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). She leads two industrial research projects: 'The Uptake of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Glass in Construction Applications' and 'Victorian Recycled Solar Photovoltaic Glass in Construction Applications'.
Educational background includes:
- Doctor of Philosophy (2023) from UNSW Sydney, thesis: Recycling Waste Glass to Develop Low-CO2 Foamed Composites: Advancing Sustainability
- Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (Structure) (2017) from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), Bangladesh
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (2012) from RUET, Bangladesh
Research focuses on developing sustainable construction materials through waste recycling, with expertise in:
- Alkali-activated materials and geopolymer concrete formulation
- Foamed composites and glass ceramics manufacturing
- Circular economy approaches for construction waste
- Performance optimization of recycled material composites
- Novel curing and sintering techniques for waste glass valorization
Publication analysis reveals strong emphasis (2019-2025) on: alkali-activated binders, waste glass recycling techniques, foamed composites development, and sustainable concrete formulations. Recent work focuses on rheology control, pore stabilization mechanisms, and industrial-scale applications of recycled materials.
Awards and honors:
- UNSW Tuition Fee Scholarship (2020-2023)
- Australian Ceramic Society Travel Bursary (2021-2022)
- Best Student Awards at RUET (2008, 2009)
- Technical Merit Scholarship at RUET (2009-2011)
Current supervision includes PhD and Master's candidates working on biochar concrete and geopolymer mortar projects. Leads industry-funded research on photovoltaic glass recycling applications at the Centre for Infrastructure Engineering and Safety.
