Prof. Dr. Axel Winkelmann serves as Chair of Business Administration and Information Systems at the Faculty of Economics, Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg (JMU). He leads a highly interdisciplinary research group focused on information systems and enterprise computing, with office located at Sanderring 2, Room 418b in Würzburg.
His research expertise spans enterprise computing, data integration, Business Process Management (BPM), and process mining analytics. The Chair's current research directions emphasize the integration of process mining with AI, augmented BPM, and hyperautomation. They maintain specialized research facilities including the ERP Lab and Data Lab, with active projects such as KARE (BMBF) and EFRE-Hyko.
The research group maintains a strategic partnership with Celonis, the global market leader in Process Mining, providing students with hands-on learning opportunities.
