Professor · Posttranslational protein modifications
Ludwig Maximilian University of MunichAbout
Prof. Dr. Axel Imhof is a faculty member at the Biomedical Center (BMC) of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. His research focuses on the dynamics and functional implications of posttranslational protein modifications, particularly lysine methylation and acetylation in histones and other regulatory proteins. Key projects include mapping the human lysine methylome, analyzing methyltransferase substrate specificity, and pioneering MALDI imaging techniques for spatial analysis of modified proteins and nucleic acids in tissues.
Email: aimhof@med.uni-muenchen.de. Associated with the Collaborative Research Centre 1309 (SFB 1309) Area B project B03, which investigates protein modification mechanisms through biochemical strategies and advanced imaging technologies.
