Avital Ronell

Avital Ronell is University Professor of the Humanities at NYU, with appointments in German and Comparative Literature. Educated at Princeton and holding a Ph.D. from Yale, she has taught at UC Berkeley, Princeton, and The European Graduate School.

Her research bridges deconstruction, philosophy, and psychoanalysis, with influential works including Complaint: Grievance among Friends and America: The Troubled Continent of Thought. She examines themes of authority, stupidity, and technology across literature and philosophy.

Her publications demonstrate sustained engagement with existential critique and deconstructive methodologies, analyzing figures from Hamlet to contemporary political discourse.
