Dr. Avik Chatterjee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at SUNY-ESF. His research focuses on percolation theory applied to nanoparticle systems and fractal aggregates, examining network formation thresholds in complex materials.
His theoretical work develops models for particle connectivity in systems ranging from rod-like nanoparticles to fractal aggregates, analyzing how shape, size distribution, and spatial arrangement affect percolation thresholds. Current investigations examine singularity structures in mixture models and their impact on parameter estimation accuracy.
He teaches core physical chemistry courses including Statistical Physics & Chemistry of Macromolecules, and maintains research collaborations focused on applications in nanocomposite materials and ecological chemistry.
