Avi Zeff

Avi Zeff is a Lecturer and RTG Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley, appointed in 2025. His research focuses on number theory and arithmetic geometry, particularly the Langlands program, Kudla's program, and special cycles.

Education:

• PhD in Mathematics, Columbia University (2020–2025), advised by Chao Li

Research Interests:

• Number Theory: Modularity, automorphic forms, and L-functions
• Arithmetic Geometry: Special cycles, p-adic geometry
• Algebraic Geometry: Shimura varieties, geometric aspects of Langlands

• Teaching Introduction to Complex Analysis (Math 185) in Fall 2025
• Organized seminars on the geometrization of the real local Langlands program, p-adic Langlands, and Bloch-Kato conjecture
• Developed teaching materials for calculus and advanced mathematics courses
