Austin Reynolds

Austin Reynolds, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Genetics at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, within the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences. His research focuses on human genomic variation and its impact on health and disease, employing interdisciplinary methods from population genetics, anthropology, and epidemiology.

Education:

• B.A. in Anthropology, Indiana University Bloomington
• Ph.D. in Integrative Biology, University of Texas at Austin

Research Interests:

• Human evolutionary genetics and demographic history
• Genomics of immune response and infectious diseases
• Genome-environment interactions driving health disparities
• Genetic basis of rare diseases

Grants: Principal Investigator of an NSF-funded project ("Collaborative Research: Genomic and Isotopic Analyses of Population Interactions and Continuity") exploring population dynamics in Africa and beyond. Active collaborations span South Africa, Mexico, Belize, and Patagonia.
