About
Austin Brockmeier is an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment at the University of Delaware, leading the Computational Neural Information Engineering Laboratory. His office is located in 306 Evans Hall and can be reached at 302-831-4274.
Education:
- PhD, University of Florida, 2014
- BS, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, 2009
Dr. Brockmeier develops advanced algorithms and statistical models for machine learning and data science to process complex, high-dimensional data, with emphasis on representing uncertainty and natural signal characteristics. His research focuses on neural signal processing and brain biophysiology for sensory prostheses, optimizing subject-specific stimulation patterns to create naturalistic neural responses. He also processes biomedical text data (scientific abstracts and clinical records) for precision medicine and public health applications, addressing challenges of high-dimensional sparse data through novel search, clustering, and pattern-significance quantification methods.
His laboratory specializes in deciphering neural signals and developing frameworks for organizing large biomedical datasets while identifying persistent clusters and meaningful patterns in complex data structures.
