Aum Pathare

Aum Pathare, MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Penn State College of Medicine. He serves as Assistant Program Director for the Psychiatry Residency program and practices at Penn State Health Medical Group and Neuroscience Institute.

• Education: MBBS from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College (2009), Residency in General Psychiatry at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (2015), Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Yale University (2016)

Dr. Pathare's research focuses on catatonia, stereotypy, and electroconvulsive therapy, with recent work exploring intersections between catatonia and melancholic depression. His clinical investigations span neuropsychiatric complications in neurological disorders and psychopharmacology.

Notable scientific contributions include Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching (2020, 2019), Outstanding Faculty Contribution to Medical Student Education (2017), and Teacher of the Year (2017). He has presented extensively on topics including paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity following cerebral hypoxia and ethical dilemmas in controlled medication management.
