August Van

August Van is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in Liability Law and affiliated with A-LAB and the Law, Markets and Behavior research groups. He holds a PhD in Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam (1995) and combines academic work with legal practice as a lawyer at Beer Advocaten since 1996 and as a mediator. His research focuses on liability for personal injury, uncertain causal relationships in civil law, and the role of medical experts in litigation.
