Audrey N. Schuetz, M.D., is Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She serves as Consultant in three divisions: Clinical Microbiology, Anatomic Pathology, and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Schuetz co-directs the Bacteriology Laboratory and directs the Initial Processing and Media Laboratory. She completed her education at Emory University (MD, MPH), University of Michigan Hospitals (Residency), and Davidson College (BA).
Her research focuses on antimicrobial resistance mechanisms (especially in gram-negative aerobes and Bacteroides fragilis), anaerobic bacteriology, infectious disease pathology, and clinical application of rapid molecular assays. She leads multicenter studies on antimicrobial-resistant bacteria and serves as PI for an Antibacterial Resistance Leadership Group trial on direct antimicrobial resistance testing from blood cultures.

Dr. Schuetz holds leadership roles in CLSI subcommittees and serves on editorial boards for Anaerobe and Journal of Clinical Microbiology.
