Audrey Lucero

Audrey Lucero is a Professor in the Department of Education Studies at the University of Oregon’s College of Education. She specializes in critical literacy, bilingual education, and the educational experiences of Latinx students. Her research employs corpus linguistics and critical discourse analysis to examine how race, ethnicity, language, and immigration influence identity formation in marginalized communities.

Dr. Lucero holds a PhD from the University of Washington (2011), an MA from Seattle University (2002), and a dual BA/BS from Boston University (1996) in Psychology and Broadcasting & Film. She has held visiting research positions, including at Lancaster University (UK, 2025).

Her work focuses on transnational student identities, critical picturebook analysis, and equity in teacher education. Recent studies include investigations into International Baccalaureate schools’ impact on Latinx students and the role of picturebooks in professional development. She co-edits English Teaching: Practice & Critique and serves on multiple academic associations.
