Audra Day

Audra Day serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management at Texas Tech University, where she is also an active member of the STEM CORE initiative focused on advancing STEM education through institutional programs and community outreach.

Her academic credentials include a BS in Microbiology and PhD in Medical Biochemistry from Texas Tech University institutions, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern studying cardiac stem cell behavior. Prior clinical experience encompasses over 10 years as a critical care nurse.

Dr. Day's research integrates Exercise Physiology with Clinical Exercise Physiology, emphasizing Cardiac Rehabilitation applications and Epidemiology. Her educational research explores practical knowledge integration in kinesiology curricula, informed by dual ACSM certifications (Certified Exercise Physiologist since 2018; Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist since 2021) and translational medical background.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in Exercise Testing and Prescription and Epidemiology, alongside a graduate Clinical Internship course. Her pedagogy centers on real-world clinical scenarios to prepare students for workforce or graduate program success.

As a STEM CORE contributor, she supports university-wide initiatives including undergraduate lab programs, K-12 outreach (Traveling Lab Program, Tech Savvy events), and community college partnerships through BAT-LSAMP and Nutrition BEST programs.
