Atulya Sarin is a Professor of Finance at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (1982), an M.B.A. in Finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (1988), and a Ph.D. in Finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (1992). His research interests span international finance, corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, and financial markets, with a recent focus on blockchain technology and crypto-assets. Dr. Sarin has authored over 25 scholarly articles in top journals such as the Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial Economics, and his textbook Foundations of Multinational Financial Management is widely recognized. He has received multiple research awards including the Dean’s Award for Research and the Presidential Research Grant.
His consulting work involves litigation support and expert testimony for government agencies such as the SEC and IRS, specializing in financial markets, securities analysis, and valuation. Dr. Sarin has served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Financial Research and reviewed for numerous finance journals. His teaching spans graduate and undergraduate courses including International Finance, Corporate Finance, and Ethics in Finance. Key contributions include analyzing IPO underwriting competition, CDS spread models, and the impact of incentive compensation structures.
