Atle Rotevatn

Atle Rotevatn is Professor of Structural Geology and Basin Analysis at the University of Bergen, where he also serves as Head of the Department of Earth Science. His research examines structural geology with applications to energy resources and geohazards.

His laboratory investigates tectonic processes, sedimentary basin evolution, and fluid flow in fractured reservoirs. Research applications span geothermal energy, hydrocarbon exploration, and CO₂ storage.

He maintains extensive international collaborations and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Basin Research. He actively engages in science communication through public lectures and media contributions on geological topics.
