Athina Bisback

Athina Bisback is a doctoral fellow at Ghent University's Department of Special Needs Education, specializing in juvenile justice research through the FWO Odysseus project led by Dr. Olivier F. Colins. She holds three Master's degrees in Clinical Psychology (UGent, 2015), Forensic Psychology (Maastricht University, 2017), and Statistics (KU Leuven, 2020), complemented by her ongoing Master in Criminology at KU Leuven (2020-2022).

Her research focuses on emotional processing in juvenile justice populations using multimodal methodologies including psychophysiological measurements and diagnostic interviews. She has contributed to studies examining belief systems in food preference research and detention-related mortality patterns.

Recent publications demonstrate her interdisciplinary approach combining psychology, criminology, and statistical analysis. The 2019 Psychology of Consciousness study explored belief systems' impact on food choices, while the 2018 FATIK paper analyzed mortality causes in detention facilities.
