Athanasios Tsipis

Professor Athanasios Tsipis is a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Ioannina, Greece. He has served as Lecturer (2003-2008), Assistant Professor (2008-2014), and Associate Professor (2014-2018) before his current role as Professor since 2018.

Education:

• Degree in Chemistry (1990) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
• PhD in Chemistry (1996) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Research Interests: His work focuses on computational inorganic chemistry using DFT methods, including electronic structure analysis of metal complexes, reaction mechanisms, functional materials for H2/NH3/O2 storage, weak π-π interactions, high-energy-density materials, and gas detection sensors.

Publications: 15 most recent articles highlight his expertise in DFT studies of coordination chemistry, catalysis, and functional materials. Topics span from metal-organic frameworks to antitumor agents and environmental mercury interactions.

Professional Collaborations: He has collaborated with institutions such as Northwestern University, University of Zaragosa, University of Bristol, and the Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry in Russia.
