Asra Kermani

Asra Kermani, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in the Division of Endocrinology. She earned her medical degree from Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, followed by residency and fellowship training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Her postdoctoral research was conducted at UT Southwestern under Dr. Scott Grundy. Dr. Kermani joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015 and previously served at the North Texas VA Medical Center and in private practice. She is a Medical Director at Southwestern Health Resources, focusing on diabetes quality improvement and collaboration with UT Southwestern specialists.

Her research and clinical interests include endocrinology, diabetes, metabolic disorders, and kidney-related conditions. Dr. Kermani is affiliated with the Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association, American College of Physicians, and the NIH’s Kidney Precision Medicine Project Community Engagement Committee. She has delivered invited lectures and authored academic articles.
