Asia Williams

Asia Williams serves as a Hip Hop Architecture Fellow at the School of Architecture, University of Detroit Mercy, located on the McNichols Campus. She is affiliated with SACD Faculty and maintains active contact through campus phone (313-993-1532) and institutional email.

Her research pioneers the intersection of Hip Hop culture and architectural practice, examining how urban cultural expressions shape built environments. Key investigations include spatial representation of marginalized communities, socio-cultural dynamics in urban planning, and integrating graffiti, music, and dance into design methodologies. This work challenges traditional architectural paradigms through community-engaged frameworks.

Williams actively promotes inclusive design pedagogy that centers Hip Hop epistemologies, advocating for equitable spatial justice in underserved urban contexts through both scholarly work and community partnerships.
