Ashwani Kumar Sharma is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico. He holds a Ph.D. (2004), M.S. (1994), and B.S. (1990) in Electrical Engineering from UNM. His expertise spans optoelectronics, semiconductor devices, and nanoscale materials for satellite applications. Dr. Sharma focuses on radiation-resistant electronics and ultra-low-power devices for aerospace systems. He co-authored the textbook Carbon-Based Electronics, Transistors and Interconnects at the Nanoscale (2015). His honors include the USAF Arthur S. Flaming Award and AFRL Best Publication Award.
Research interests include nanoscaling physics, large-bandgap semiconductors, and high-power optical devices. Teaching focuses on semiconductor materials, microelectronics fabrication, and optoelectronics. He has over 20 years of R&D experience in space electronics at AFRL/RVSE, Kirtland AFB.
