Ashley Rudolph

Ashley Rudolph is a Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design at Falmouth University's School of Communication, with 26+ years' experience in design and academia. He teaches across all years of the Graphic Design BA(Hons) and Communication Design MA programs, and serves as External Examiner at Exeter School of Art and Link Tutor at Bodmin College. His primary role focuses on integrating design practice with end-of-life studies through the MOTH project.

Educated at Central Saint Martins (BA Graphic Design, 1995) and the University of Greenwich (PGCE in Education, 2007), Rudolph has held academic positions at institutions including Oxford Brookes University and Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. His research explores how design can improve death literacy, challenge cultural taboos, and create meaningful mourning experiences through projects like exhibitions, symposia, and educational resources.

Rudolph's work bridges design practice and pedagogy, with recent collaborations involving healthcare professionals, philosophers, and palliative care organizations. His awards include multiple Red Dot Design Awards (2013) and recognition from the Type Directors Club and Design Week Awards.

Teaching specializations include typography and graphic communication, while his advisory work includes mentoring Blythe Walker Sibthorp (2023). He has organized over 15 international events since 2013, including major symposia on death communication design and exhibitions exploring mortality artifacts.
