Ashley Hancock

Dr. Ashley Hancock is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), affiliated with the Molecular Nanophotonics research group focusing on Photon Harvesting in Plants and Biomolecules. Holding a PhD in Physics from the University of Leeds (United Kingdom), their work bridges nanophotonics and biophysics to study energy transfer mechanisms in biological systems.

Research Interests: Dr. Hancock’s research explores how light interacts with biomolecules at the nanoscale, particularly in natural systems like plants. This includes investigating photosynthetic processes, molecular energy transfer pathways, and bio-inspired photonic materials. Their studies aim to advance understanding of quantum effects in biology and develop novel applications in photonics.
