Her academic journey includes a Master of Education with Distinction (2007) and a Doctor of Education (2021). Dr. Fenwick's research examines how outdoor learning is malleable, shaped by contexts and individuals, often peripheral to mainstream curriculum, and potentially powerful as a pedagogy of affect. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical classroom applications in geography education.
- Professional Experience: Eleven years teaching Geography at secondary level, Faculty Head role, Lecturer at University of Strathclyde (2005) for PGDE(S) Geography course
- Research Focus: School geography, curriculum implementation, outdoor learning pedagogies, teacher development
Her research demonstrates that outdoor learning is integral to some young people's educational experiences and provides valuable insights into how local and temporal factors shape educational practices in secondary schools.
