Ashley Causey, D.N.P., serves as a Visiting Instructor at the University of Portland's School of Nursing & Health Innovations. With over twenty-seven years of clinical experience across diverse nursing specialties, she brings extensive practical knowledge to her academic role.
Her research interests span Critical Care Nursing (including Pediatric ICU and Cardiac ICU), Operating Room Nursing, and emerging focus on Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing for adolescents. Her educational leadership spans undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral nursing programs in Oregon and Washington.
Dr. Causey holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with specialization in leadership and global healthcare. Her current scholarly activities include pursuing a second MSN as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Gonzaga University, demonstrating ongoing professional development in mental health nursing.
Her teaching philosophy integrates 27+ years of frontline clinical experience in high-acuity settings with evidence-based educational practices. She maintains active engagement in nursing education through curriculum development across all degree levels while advancing her own clinical expertise in adolescent mental health.
