Ashley Appleton

Dr. Ashley Appleton is an Assistant Professor of Graduate Psychology at Felician University, affiliated with the School of Arts & Sciences. She holds a Psy.D in Counseling Psychology from St. Elizabeth University and an M.A in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Her research focuses on mental health interventions for older adults, minority stress, LGBTQ+ aging, and social justice in counseling. Her doctoral dissertation explored positive psychology approaches to improve quality of life for seniors. She maintains a private practice emphasizing accessible care and social justice principles.

Dr. Appleton teaches courses including Techniques of Counseling and Appraisal, Vocational Counseling, and Clinical Practicum at Felician University. Since 2019, she has served as a Volunteer Education Ambassador with the National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging.

Her work integrates evidence-based practices like CBT with multicultural competency, addressing issues such as racial-ethnic socialization and relationship therapies.
