Aseem Agarwala

Aseem Agarwala is a Research Scientist at Adobe and an Affiliate Associate Professor in the Computer Science & Engineering department at the University of Washington. He completed his Ph.D. at UW in 2006 under David Salesin, supported by a Microsoft Fellowship. His research bridges computer graphics, computer vision, computational imaging, and machine learning to enhance expressive imagery creation, including projects like Google Clips and volumetric surface modeling.

He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Science from MIT, where he contributed to the Computer Graphics Group and interned at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratory (MERL). His work spans both industry (Adobe, Google, Microsoft Research) and academia.

Agarwala received a Microsoft Fellowship during his doctoral studies. He led the Google Clips AI team and developed projects like content-preserving video stabilization, realistic image compositing, and crowdsourced portrait enhancement. He also serves on the board of On The Boards, a Seattle performance art venue.
