Asaf Goldschmidt is a Professor of East Asian Studies at Tel Aviv University and currently serves as the Director of the Confucius Institute at the same institution. His research focuses on the historical intersections of Chinese medicine, science, and public health during the Song Dynasty (960-1200), with additional interests in drug trade, consumption practices, and medical case records.
His scholarly work includes two notable publications: The Evolution of Medicine in China: The Song Dynasty, 960-1200 (RoutledgeCurzon Press, 2008), and a full translation of Xu Shuwei’s medical case histories (Springer, Archimedes book series). His completed projects explore the history of the Imperial Pharmacy in China and the development of medical case records.
