Dr. Arzu Canan is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and currently serves as the interim Division Chief of the Cardiothoracic Imaging Division. She completed her medical degree at Ondokuz Mayıs University Medical School in Turkey, followed by radiology residency at Abant Izzet Baysal University Hospital. Her training includes advanced fellowship programs in cardiothoracic imaging and cardiac imaging at UT Southwestern.
Her research focuses on cardiac computed tomography (CT) evaluation of coronary artery disease, structural heart disease, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of non-ischemic cardiomyopathies. Dr. Canan has published over 35 peer-reviewed articles and authored/co-authored eight book chapters. She actively contributes to the field through editorial roles at journals like Journal of Cardiac Computed Tomography and Frontiers in Radiology, and serves on professional committees such as the Society of Cardiac Computed Tomography’s FiRST committee.
Her professional affiliations include the American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North America, and American College of Radiology. Dr. Canan’s work bridges clinical practice and academic research, emphasizing innovative imaging techniques and their applications in cardiovascular diagnostics.
