Arthur Russell

Arthur Russell is a Senior Lecturer in the University Writing Program at Johns Hopkins University. He specializes in premodern literature and the rhetoric of the senses, exploring sensory ecologies of premodern media and their influence on contemporary art and culture.

His research interests include:

• Premodern sensory theories and textual practices
• Medieval manuscript culture and affective experience
• Intersections between historical and modern sensory frameworks
