Arthur Redding is a Professor in the Department of English at York University, affiliated with the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an M.A. from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a B.A. from Kenyon College. His research focuses on American literary and cultural figures, including studies of ghosts, memory, and ethnic identity in contemporary literature; Cold War cultural politics; anarchism; and pulp fiction. Redding has served as President of the Canadian Association for American Studies (2014–2016) and President of the York University Faculty Association (2018–2020). He is currently accepting applications from new graduate students and maintains an open profile for media inquiries.
His academic work spans analyses of figures such as Emma Goldman, Langston Hughes, and Toni Morrison, alongside explorations of cinematic and literary representations of identity. Redding’s interdisciplinary approach bridges literary studies with cultural history, emphasizing the intersections of politics, aesthetics, and social movements.
