Arnaud Sebileau

Arnaud Sebileau is a Lecturer-HDR at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest (UCO), affiliated with the Faculty of Sciences and the IFEPSA (Institut de Formation en Education Physique et en Sports). He is a full member of the Nantes Center for Sociology (CENS UMR CNRS 6025) and serves as the educational manager for the Master's program in Sports Management: 'Sports, Local Policies, Environments'.

Sebileau holds an HDR (2022, University of Burgundy Franche-Comté) and a PhD in Sociology (2005, University of Nantes). His research focuses on recreational uses of nature, coastal area sociology, and the political sociology of the 'common good', with a focus on coastal space governance, class antagonisms in leisure activities, and the interplay between public action and environmental protection.

Research & Projects: He leads projects such as the PRUSM study on surfers' mobilities and the SABL project on coastal attractiveness. He is involved in the ANR OPOSUM program analyzing social circulations. His work explores protected marine areas' governance, coastal populations' dynamics, and the socio-political dimensions of recreational sports.
