Armin Siegrist

Armin Siegrist is a Lecturer at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, ETH Zürich, affiliated with the Institute of Food, Nutrition and Health. His research focuses on sustainability assessment methods in food systems, particularly alternative protein sources (e.g., plants, fungi, algae, insects) and their environmental impacts. He utilizes tools like life cycle assessment, scenario analysis, and system modeling to evaluate future food production systems.

• Education: BSc and MSc in Environmental Engineering from ETH Zürich. Master’s focus: Resource Management, covering circular economy, recycling, and sustainability assessment methods.

His master’s project analyzed land use change-induced greenhouse gas emissions for eaternity, while his thesis at WSL Institute investigated biogas production potentials from agricultural residues using GIS. Since 2022, he has been a PhD candidate under Prof. Alexander Mathys, combining sustainability assessment with food production innovation.
