Arjan Verschoor is a Professor of Economics at the University of East Anglia's School of Global Development. With a PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam, he specializes in behavioral development economics, particularly agricultural decision-making in Uganda and intra-household allocation across multiple developing countries.
His research examines experimental economics approaches to poverty reduction, gender inequality, and climate resilience. Current projects focus on small farmers' risk attitudes and insurance decisions in eastern Uganda.
Verschoor has supervised over 25 PhD students on topics ranging from microfinance to climate adaptation. His work has been recognized through the ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize.
He coordinates the Norwich Institute for Sustainable Development and leads multiple BBSRC-funded projects on climate-resilient agriculture.
