Ariane Martin is Professor of Modern German Literature at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Her research centers on Georg Büchner, Heinrich Mann, J.M.R. Lenz, and Frank Wedekind, examining intersections of modernity, gender, and cultural representation. She directs the Frank Wedekind Editions and Research Center and has published critical editions of Wedekind's correspondence.
Her work explores textual transmission and adaptation across media, particularly analyzing how dramatic works reflect social transformations. Recent scholarship investigates exile narratives and historical reinterpretations in modernist literature.
